Stirling has always been one of the most important cities in Scotland. In medieval times the castle guarded the main crossing point over the river Forth; all armies travelling north or south had to pass here. Several important battles occurred within view of the castle ramparts. It was said “to hold Stirling was to have Scotland”, as a result of this, the town became known as ‘the key to the kingdom’
Today, Stirling is a vibrant small city that offers everything that the visitor looks for in a day trip, short break or holiday. From ancient buildings to modern shopping centres, riverside leisure complexes, cinema, bowling, health, fitness, first class hotels and restaurants. It’s all here!
